"God is in the Details." –Mies Van Der Rohe
At 4'9", this Baby Grand really is a baby. But it sounds so good. The Muse penthouse, overlooking the Mississippi River and French Quarter, features this ebony Hallet, Davis & Co. with plenty of space to play.
Overlooking the Mississippi River and the French Quarter, this penthouse hotel room and terrace, with its ebony baby-grand piano, beckon the restless muse within, as does an expansive playpen daybed fabricated in Italian chenille by Los Angeles craftsman Gabriel Victor. A worn 6' Carrera top rests on vintage champagne racks, alluding whimsically to a Francophile history while serving as inventive dining table/desk. In one corner, a crystal chandelier dressed in a diaphanous silk shade glows. Washed velvet curtains over white batiste sheers hang from wrought iron rods. Parting a dramatic pair of Fortuny velvet panels leads to the 8' x 11' linen-covered headboard and bed dressed with layers of white bedding, as well as the hotel's finest master bathroom.
The floors of this 1 bedroom 1.5 bathroom penthouse are covered in wide planks of reclaimed pine from one of the owner's loft projects. Upon them rest handsome rugs woven by Studio Nanimarquina of Spain. Floor to ceiling honed slabs of Calacatta Gold marble clad the oversized four-fixture bathroom, with contemporary reference to and reverence for generations of Italian influence on this city's heritage. The spacious shower, seemingly carved into a wall of Calacatta, looks directly across at the Dornbracht platinum-nickel faucets pouring an elegant cascade of water into a 7 ft CUBE soaking tub. Over this deep tub hang multiple mirrors and a Swarovski chandelier. Two Aquos flat screens and iPod players sit within easy reach throughout the space.
